Oh, what a night…My ‘daughter in love‘ is amazing. She worked all day yesterday…picked up her 2 year old son from daycare and came home for supper. Around 10:30pm she was having strong pains and after awhile my son said ‘let’s go to hospital to be safe’. As I told you yesterday: it’s an hour away. And it’s a good thing they left when they did because shortly after arriving at the hospital, Baby Kate made her debut into the world. 12:31AM 9/11/13 6 lbs 15oz 22 inches long….precious, soft, sweet little baby girl.
I can hardly wait to get back today, to hold her and Kiss My Kate!
But last night when all this drama began, we had just gone to bed. My husband and I were talking about all our prayer concerns for the
next day….that hopefully the baby would come soon and the Mommy would have an easy time…and another granddaughter had a health issue that could be serious…and my husband had to say a prayer at the 9-11 service this morning.
We prayed that all would be fine and we could get everything done today that we needed to do. My husband said “I wonder if God gets tired of all our requests, all the time? We’re always worrying Him with our problems.”
I assured him not, that He tells us to cast ALL our cares on Him. I think He means it.
And so we were about to drift off to sleep when the phone rang. It was my daughter asking what we were planning on doing…I said about what? “Oh, you didn’t get the text? Lisa is 8 cm….” It’s happening again! Lisa has her babies really quickly!… So my daughter said she’d call when she was dressed and had the children dressed…12, 11 and 6 year old cousins…never mind it’s a school night and it’s after 12 midnight….birthin babies is important business around here.. .that’s when my husband rolled over and said to me ” we’re not going tonight, are we?” Unbelievable! ” Of Course we’re going ~ right now!”
Kate arrived just a few minutes before we did! We all got to go back and see the sweetie pie.
God is so good, yes~ He answers prayers. Every single one of them. No matter how insignificant they seem. Our other granddaughter’s health issue turned out to be nothing serious and my husband offered a great benediction for the 9-11 service a little while ago.
Oh and the Mommy? She had no pain meds at all …and not a word of complaint. She was just ready to hold her baby.
And as of 12:31AM, today, “Remember 9-11” has a whole new meaning.
A good one. A precious one. A sweet little girl one.
Katherine Elisabeth….Baby Kate ~ named for both her mother’s grandmothers (with her mommy’s name in the middle). Sweet.
I love you already, my Kate.
