really old book isolated on white background.

My nephew is getting married later today.  It’s Saturday morning and I stumbled upon this old post I had written three years ago, to the day….about another beautiful wedding……I took it as a sign that I should share it again…This post is part of a series about pictures of Jesus in Genesis, one of my favorite topics.  I hope you enjoy and have a blessed Sunday.

Did you know that Adam laid down his life for his wife?  Sound familiar? Of course it does. We know that Jesus laid down his life for our sin.  And we’re looking for pictures of Jesus in Genesis… [Read more…]

old and vintage open holy bible

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted this….my most favorite lessons from the Bible…. Jesus in Genesis. If you’ve never been on this journey with me before,  I think you may be surprised at how many pictures of Jesus there are in Genesis. In fact,  it’s as if the whole book is pointing to Jesus and God’s plan to send him to die for our sins.  It’s amazing to me and I hope you will be as amazed as I’ve been.  Truly, I honestly believe…you’re going to love this! Why Jesus Rose from the Dead

Resurrection garden

Christ the Lord is Risen, today! I love having this reminder of the true meaning of Easter beside my back door. Nothing says who Jesus really is more than seeing the stone rolled away. Death couldn’t hold him back.

My husband is always full of insight, even when he doesn’t know it…One day he asked me if I knew why Jesus rose from the dead?  Of course I go into some discourse starting in Genesis…:) about it being God’s plan for the redemption of mankind…etc, etc…he said….but do you know why death could not hold him in the grave? And what he said is so simple, yet I’d never put these thoughts into words… He said:

“The wages of sin is death and Jesus never sinned, so death could not hold him.” I just looked at him stunned and amazed at the simplicity and truth in those simple words.

And you know what? Jesus took our sins…all of our sins, the nasty, dirty, rotten, sinful things we have thought and done or that have been done to us…and dumped them at Satan’s feet. Because they all originated with him and they belong to him and Jesus just gave them back to their original owner…

The Bible says Jesus is “the author and finisher of our faith.”  Craftsmen and builders put the finishing touches on their work…and when they are done, they clean up all the debris and trash, sweep the floors clean and dump it all in the garbage so the house is presentable to the new owners.

That’s what Jesus did for us…he, by the Holy Spirit, called us… making him the author…or the one who authorizes our salvation….and then he put the finishing touches on us and got rid of our trash, to make us presentable to God.

Jesus, the Bible says, made a public spectacle of satan. In front of all the minions of hell, Jesus showed him just what all the heartaches and ruined lives and hurt and pain he caused people on earth, was worth. Jesus took our sin and dumped it all at satan’s feet. It was nothing but garbage. Jesus gave it all back to its rightful owner.

As I sit in church this morning, I’m going to look around at all our friends and think about how new and clean and pretty everyone is today and remember, …the stone was rolled away because Jesus never sinned. He lived a perfect life for me…because I certainly couldn’t.

Thankfully, we don’t have to pay for our sin and we don’t have to carry the load of guilt anymore. We only have to accept the gift of God, His son, and believe Jesus died and rose again, for us.

It’s Resurrection Sunday and the stone is rolled away!

Christ the Lord is Risen Today!

Alleluia!

Old bible with picture of saints

For twelve weeks we have dusted off an old picture album and found old photos that  we hadn’t seen before. We’ve discovered God’s plan to send Jesus and pictures of Him from the very beginning of Genesis. If you have just found this series, please start at the beginning and dust off this old picture album and see for yourself.  It’s funny how we can look at something and not see the whole picture,  until later.  A wonderful friend of mine died suddenly, earlier this year.  Recently I was looking at old photos of other people and found that my friend was in the background of several of them. I never would have found her picture, except I was looking for someone else’s photo. [Read more…]

Camel trip in Sahara desert Merzouga, Morocco, north Africa

For the past 8 Sundays we have been looking thru an old photo album of pictures of Jesus outlined in the book of Genesis. Some photos are so faded that we have to look closely to make out the features. Some photos seem rather obscure, but none the less,  we have seen God reveal each week another detail of His plan to redeem mankind from the penalty of their sin…I should say OUR sin. It’s an exciting journey and one I love, love, love, to read  and write about. God is revealing something of Himself in every picture. He is revealing His ernest desire for us to come back to Him. Noah's Ark

This week’s picture of Jesus in Genesis is a little different from the others we have looked at.   Once again we dust off the old picture album and see if this week we can make out whose picture is on this page of our album.

Our quest to find the picture of Jesus in Genesis is a daunting one today. I mean, we are talking about Noah and the Flood.  And with it, [Read more…]

Genesis Book & Sky

Welcome back!  I was thinking about our picture album and this week’s ‘photo’ and it occurred to me that most of my life I thought that the main purpose of the book of Genesis was to tell the story of creation. It is one of the reasons we have the book of Genesis, but the primary purpose is to reveal God’s plan of redemption for mankind…and that plan is about Jesus.  We have the advantage of having the New Testament to shine a light back into the Old Testament and make things clearer.  It helps all these old ‘photos’ make sense. Gnesis1629Bible

You’re going to love this! ….BTW this is an authentic 1629 KJV Bible page/leaf…my husband gave it to me framed with the back page showing the verses where God  created Eve and gave her to Adam…the first wedding…for our anniversary this year. Sweet.

I love to take pictures. I’m not a professional by any means, but I enjoy setting the stage and making sure the background is as presentable as the object I’m photographing. It matters, you know? [Read more…]
