ginger tea

A couple of weeks ago we were fighting the flu bug in our family.   My son’s family one week, my other son’s family over the weekend and my daughter’s family the next week. It’s been rough…so I decided to make some Ginger Tea to help ward it off from my house…so far,  so good…..

If you are fighting the flu or cold and need something extra to help keep you safe or heal your body,  you may want to try Ginger Tea….(and don’t forger the Most Amazing Home-Made Cough Syrup)…also made with ginger!

Ginger has wonderful health properties to keep you well….as well as healing properties.  So, whether you are well or sick, your body will benefit from a cup of ginger tea.

Did you know that it helps with arthritic pain?  After making a quilt and painting a cradle and bench for my grandchildren, I noticed my hands have been more painful that usual for the past few days. I never knew I had any arthritis…but obviously I do! Ginger tea to the rescue! Please be sure to pass this along to any arthritis sufferers you may know.

I’m excited to learn about it having anti-inflammatory benefits.  But also, did you know it helps to kill some cancer cells? And prevent cancer in some cases? Yes! Be sure to check out the link above.   Who knows what other benefits ginger has that we’ve yet to discover?

I’m a firm believer that God Almighty placed everything on this earth we need to stay healthy…we just need to figure it out…who knew ginger could be so beneficial to so many ailments?

Ginger Tea is so easy to make….just remember to pick up some fresh ginger and lemons in the produce department. Firm and without blemishes. You may peel or not peel, it’s up to you…I find it easiest to scrap the ginger with a knife to remove the peeling.

The Recipe: Ginger Tea

1 individual tea bag

1 1/2 cups of water

Juice of one lemon

1 Tablespoon of thinly sliced ginger root (peeled)

1-2 Tablespoons of honey…to taste

Place all ingredients, except honey,  in a sauce pan and bring to a boil.  Remove from heat and allow to steep for 5-10 minutes. Pour into 2 cups and add honey, to taste. Sip away.  Serves 2.

Remember to Stay healthy…and drink your Ginger Tea!
