Monogrammed T-Shirt Pillow

Throw Pillows

Here’s a great idea on making decorative pillows from your child’s outgrown monogrammed T-shirts.

Not very long ago my daughter recruited me to help with a surprise for her daughter. She wanted to give her room a makeover and let it be a surprise! What fun this would be…she knew she could count me in! We had just gotten a new TJMaxx  so ….why not?

The new bedding had been ordered months before and had been hidden away until we could get it all together… We were trying to wait until her new furniture came, which was also a surprise, but there was a delay in shipping so when my daughter sent Hannah Marie off to church camp,  we decided to go ahead with what we had~

My job was finding accessories for the room, including throw pillows for her bed.  And that’s when I spied a box of her old clothes.  There was a monogrammed t-shirt Hannah Marie had outgrown and its colors were perfect, right down to the polka dots!!!

I had already made the shams for the bed, so using scraps of that fabric,  I made a pillow with the monogram in the center….Love the way it turned out…and how simple it was!

I cut a border out in contrasting fabric that had polka dots to go with the theme of the bedding. And I bought some fluffly boa trim to match. I did sew this but it could easily be done with fabric glue or fusable tape.

So, MOMS,  before you throw away those too small shirts with your child’s name or initials…think about making a pillow or  putting together a keepsake quilt!  If all else fails, mat and frame it!   Keep the memories of your child’s childhood alive~ it passes so quickly as it is!

I also made the pillow with the Gerberas on it. I made a simple rectangle pillow and glued the flowers, I found at WalMart! I bought the stems of flowers and pulled the heads off and hot glued them onto the pillow! Nothing to it!

Do I need to tell you….She was one happy camper when she got home!  She was so surprised and thrilled and LOVED it!

Hannah Maire told us she was never changing this room until she gets married! And she sure hoped her husband liked it because she wasn’t changing it then either!!!!  Sweet….We will see… 🙂
