    White Christmas Church Village

    December 17, 2018

I’m always dreaming of a White Christmas. I’ve never had one in my life. I know, sad.  And then one day,  recently,  I saw a Christmas Village that had all been painted white and I decided to be on the lookout for an inexpensive Christmas village to paint. I meant I was going to have my White Christmas one way or another…. looks like it going to be ‘or another’.

Day One: I found a Christmas village with two Village churches at Goodwill! Day One! That’s when I decided to create a White Christmas Church Village.

It’s an easy project with absolutely no talent required… just some ugly village buildings and a can of white flat spray paint.  See what I mean about ugly… bought this yellow beauty off eBay!

Take them outside and spray several coats of white paint. It may take 3 coats to keep the under color from coming through.

I bought a strand of 5 lights in the Christmas Village section of Home Depot’s Christmas decor.  Perfect.

I checked on Amazon for the value of the churches I found and the only one with any worth, was the main church,  which I didn’t paint. It is already mostly white and green,  so it complemented the whole scene to leave it as is. I placed the nativity scene next to it.

I love that the focal point is a simple manger scene…an ornament I found at Walmart…just the right size.

I went through my old stash of Christmas trees to use as part of the landscape.  I found some cotton batting for the snow.  There are books underneath the taller churches and under some trees to give additional height… then covered with ‘snow’.

I’m happy with the way my little Church Village turned out. It was a last minute project and I was surprised how easy it was to find little village churches to use. I found several locally at thrift stores and the others I won on eBay. They all arrived within a week or so and within 2 weeks of Christmas it was completed. Looks like I’m going to have a White Christmas after all…

    …even if it’s just a White Christmas Church Village…

    Merry Christmas, y’all !
