Jesus in Genesis Pg 3 The Bride of Jesus

Bride and groom entering the church (concept for marriage made ??by God to unite a man and a woman in a single body)

Today we turn the page in our dusty old album and find wedding photos.   The day of the first wedding, ever.  Marriage is important to God because reflects a picture of God’s character to the world. Or at least it should!  [Read more…]

Jesus in Genesis Pg 2 Jesus is the Light

really old book isolated on white background.

Most of my life I thought that the main purpose of the book of Genesis was to tell the story of creation. It is one of the reasons we have the book of Genesis, but the primary purpose is to reveal God’s plan of redemption for mankind…and that plan is about Jesus.  [Read more…]

Jesus in Genesis Page 1

old and vintage open holy bible

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted this….my most favorite lessons from the Bible…. Jesus in Genesis. If you’ve never been on this journey with me before,  I think you may be surprised at how many pictures of Jesus there are in Genesis. In fact,  it’s as if the whole book is pointing to Jesus and God’s plan to send him to die for our sins.  It’s amazing to me and I hope you will be as amazed as I’ve been.  Truly, I honestly believe…you’re going to love this! So, What’s So Good About Good Friday

A baby  lamb

Today is Good Friday. It’s the day Jesus died for you and me so we could be redeemed back to God.  That’s what’s so good about Good Friday!

The fickle crowd  who praised Him to high Heaven last Sunday now called for his death. “Crucify Him!” And so they did. Jesus could have fought. He could have refused. But He didn’t. He willingly laid down His life for us. For you and me!

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

That’s what’s so good about Good Friday!

And do you know what else is so good about today?

It’s a Good Friday because we live on this side of the Passover Lamb laying down His life for us.  We can look back at scriptures and see the hand of God at work in the history of the world.  Most people never had that opportunity.

The most significant prophecies are found in the book of Isaiah and penned 700 years before Christ.

Isaiah 53

1Who has believed our message
and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
3 He was despised and rejected by mankind,
    a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
    he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

4 Surely he took up our pain
    and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
    stricken by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
    and by his wounds we are healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
    each of us has turned to our own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
    the iniquity of us all.

7 He was oppressed and afflicted,
    yet he did not open his mouth;
he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
    and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
    so he did not open his mouth.
8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away.
    Yet who of his generation protested?
For he was cut off from the land of the living;
    for the transgression of my people he was punished.
9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
    and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
    nor was any deceit in his mouth.

10 Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
    and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
    and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand.
11 After he has suffered,
    he will see the light of life and be satisfied;
by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many,
    and he will bear their iniquities.
12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,
    and he will divide the spoils with the strong,
because he poured out his life unto death,
    and was numbered with the transgressors.
For he bore the sin of many,
    and made intercession for the transgressors.

Jesus Christ

And this is the day we remember how very much God LOVES us. He gave His son to die in place of us, for our sin. It’s even better because we know God did not leave Him there…..…See you Sunday!

Yes, it is a Good Friday….

Do you still have a problem believing this message?  It was all in God’s plan from the beginning. It was promised thousands of years before Jesus was born. God would send his son to redeem us.  I hope you’ll take time to trace these promises in more detail here.

Palm Sunday

Jesus on Palm Sunday

The Triumphal Entry…. Jesus knows what’s coming. He knows how fickle and easily led people are. He knows it’s easier to follow the crowd, than to do what is right. He knows we mean well, but our flesh is weak. He knows not to trust the praises of men. He knows, by the end of the week, these same people will be calling for his death. He knows all of this and loves us anyway. [Read more…]

How to Make a Resurrection Garden

Resurrection Garden

Last year I made my first Resurrection Garden and I loved it! I had so many compliments on it. The only problem was that it takes time for grass seed to germinate and it was cold last year and the seed did not cooperate.  So, I’m telling you in plenty of time…..Make this today! [Read more…]

The Day I Looked for God and Saw Him

the day I looked for God

Yesterday began with tons of uncertainly. I had to leave town for a visit that potentially could cause all sorts of hurt and hard feelings.  I dreaded making the trip, but had put it off as long as I could. I had to go.  And then I hate to leave town. My husband depends on me for support and he too, has several things going on that have caused him sleepless nights.   I knew he needed me here for encouragement and even though he knew I wouldn’t be gone long, it made for a long day for him. As I drove out of town I began to pray for the Lord to watch over things at home, to give him peace of mind for this day and grant me favor with my most unpleasant task. [Read more…]

The Taming of the Shrub and Me

taming of the shrub1yr

Last year, as I was working on my Mosaic Birdbath, I paused to look across my yard and there he was! That nuisance I had been trying to get rid of for years! There he was, flaunting himself at me, again! Ok, I had had it. I decide to have a come to Jesus meeting with him. It dawned on me, as I looked across my yard, that he would make a great topiary. He wouldn’t leave. Fine. He could stay, but on my terms. I would have the final word in what we call at my house… the Taming of the Shrub! [Read more…]
